We had most stuff from our first child and as our Jack is a twin, we had to get prepared whatever. However Diane didnt want the cots put up or anything else ready, so I had to get it done before they all came out of hospital.
At the end of the day you should do what you feel is right for you. Whatever you do it wont change anything for the better or the worse, so dont get tied up about it.
Your outlook will also depend on the expected prognosis. We were always expecting a good outcome in the short to medium term, so it wasnt a major issue.
