Hi Nic,
We found out at my 20 week anomaly scan about our baby's CHD. (He had TGA and VSD and suspected co-arctation.) By the time it was all confirmed at St. Thomas by Mr. John Simpson a few days later, we found out the sex and we named him quite soon afterwards. I bought a few things early on just as I had for our first son. I kept them aside and knew that they would get backed in my hospital bag. However, we ended up having to get loads more things when he was transfered to Camel Ward. This was so the clothes could give easy access to his chest, hands and feet (for scanning, taking bloods, saturation probes, etc.)and for easy changing (with the many wires to contend with). I found that although we knew throughout half the pregnancy about Liam's condition and what was needed to 'fix' him, the most important thing for him was a happy, healthy, stress-free Mum / accommodation before his grand entrance into this world. So that's what I tried to do - baby clothes shopping and all!! I continued with prenatal yoga, had twice monthly pregnancy massages, swam and ate well.
After a rough start, Liam is now an 11 month old stair climbing, 'da da da'ing, playful little boy.
Take care of yourself and your baby. Sending loads of good vibes your way. And happy shopping when you feel ready for it.
Emma
