On June 10th, Commissioner Cross and the fans of the CWF Mid-Atlantic capped the night with a huge send-off for Ric Converse as he prepared to travel to Indianapolis just four days later to face the AWA World Heavyweight Champion, Takao Omori. This Saturday night fans will have the opportunity to welcome home the NEW AWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION! A special "World Championship Celebration" will take place to honor Ric Converse's remarkable accomplishment, being the first wrestler ever to hold the AWA World Heavyweight Championship in the Mid-Atlantic territory. "It was the support of the fans that helped make my dream come true," stated Converse. "I want to personally thank each and every one," the new World Champion continued. "It's going to be a special night for all the fans that have supported Ric Converse," Commissionor William L. Cross noted. There will be a special collection of official Ric Converse AWA World Champion photos available for purchase, including exclusive ones taken that historic night in Indianapolis! Commissioner Cross has authorized for the first time ever, that fans will be allowed to get in the ring to have Converse autograph those photos and can bring their own cameras to take photos with him in the ring! For the low price of only $5, fans will get to pick out any one of the photos, get in the ring with the World Champion to personally autograph it, and can also take a picture with Ric Converse in the ring too. However before the party begins, there will be a full card of great wrestling action! The 3rd Annual Johnny Weaver Cup Tournament continues this week with two big matches already announced. The 2004 Weaver Cup winner, "Dangerous E" Corey Edsel, along with his manager Cornelius J. Lumpkin III, will take on the Gemini Kid in a second round bout. As a former winner, Edsel received an automatic bye into the second round. Gemini defeated Trent Wylde to advance to the second leg of the tournament. The president of the Lumpkin Management Group, Inc. wasn't in Burlington two weeks ago. Lumpkin visited with his investors in the United Arab Emirites and met his newest wrestler to be added to the LMG stable while in Abu Dhabi. This new wrestler, whom Lumpkin has refused to identify, will be debuting as soon as his VISA papers are approved. Lumpkin returned to the United States for another special surprise from his UAE investors. They arranged a meeting with the AWA legend, "Sheik of Baghdad" Adnon Al-Kassy! LMG Inc. has issued a press release stating that Sheik Al-Kassy congratulated Lumpkin on his excellent work as a manager in the AWA and for making the right decision to join forces with his Arab brothers. For showing such intelligence and loyalty, Lumpkin was then deemed an honorary sheik. "Sheik" Lumpkin stated that Edsel will easily defeated the Gemini Kid enroute to capturing the Weaver Cup for a second time. "I plan on hand delivering the Weaver Cup to Sheik Adnon Al-Kassy and renaming it in his honor," Lumpkin said. Also on tap is the final first round match of the 2006 Weaver Cup Tournament as the new AWA Mid-Atlantic Television Champion, Michael McAllister, will meet the popular Brass Munkey. McAllister was distraught when informed that he would have to defend the title throughout the tournament, just as last year's winner, Jesse Ortega did. The winner of the McAllister-Munkey match moves on to the second round where they will face Ortega. Plus the return to action of the Kamakazi Kid! Kazi hasn't been in the Carolina Sports Arena rings since the AWA World Light Hwt. Tournament held last July. Now the Kamakazi Kid is back full-time with plans of getting back on the championship track he once was on. Don't miss this exciting death-defying wrestler's return! Speaking of returns, the question of whether Rob "The Boogie Woogie Man" McBride will come back to Burlington is one of the most talked about items today. McBride feels like he has let down all the fans when he lost the AWA Mid-Atlantic TV Title to Michael McAllister. Although it was under very controversial terms, The Boogie Man has refused to take phone calls and even his best friend, Tank Lawson, hasn't been able to get him to come back. Have we seen the last of McBride? All this and so much more including the AWA Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Champions Garry "Madd Trucker" Stevens & "A Very Handsome Man" Mitch Connor, RGL Champion Ultra Dragon, Otto Schwanz, Jesse Ortega, Brad Attitude, Xsiris, "Mr. Elite" Jake Manning, Joey Silvia, "Simply" Steve Greene, "The Box Office Draw" Mikeal Yamaha, the United Nations Of Devastation, and many more! Don' you dare miss it!!! Link: www.indyinsiders.com www.IndyInsiders.Com
