For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Such was the case when "Slick Diddy" Ric Converse won the AWA World Heavyweight title on June 14th in Indianapolis. As Converse finally achieved his ultimate dream, it also opened the doorway to another man's dream. A dream that will be realized this Saturday, July 8th, in Burlington, NC. With his AWA World Title win, Converse was forced to relinquish the coveted Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight title which paves the way to a 20-Man Battle Royal this Saturday night - the first step in crowning a new AWA Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Champion. The final two standing at the conclusion of the Battle Royal will then return in the main event to battle it out in what should be an epic championship final. The 20-men entered in the battle royal vary from former champions to #1 contenders to men that have never had a chance to vie for the coveted prize before. All will have the chance of a lifetime but in the end, only one dream will be realized this Saturday night and only one can be crowned as the NEW AWA Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight champion! AWA World Heavyweight Champion Ric Converse will be in Burlington to present the Mid-Atlantic Hwt. Title belt to the new champion!!! In addition, due to the very special nature of this Saturday's show, Commissioner Cross has elected to postpone any previous scheduled matches (Including 2nd Round Weaver Cup matchups Garry Stevens vs. Tank Lawson and Jesse Ortega vs. Brass Munkey as well as the Pig Trough match between Fatback Enterprises and Matty Dee, Roy Wilkins, & GeeStar), in order to give all qualifying parties a fair and equal chance to participate in the 20-Man Battle Royal that will lead to a new heavyweight champion being crowned at the end of the night. Any previous scheduled matchup WILL be held during the upcoming "Summer Action Series" Tour. The AWA Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Championship is one that is sought after by every wrestler, now even more so, as the title has proven to be the stepping stone to the elite AWA World Heavyweight Title now held by Ric Converse. Offers have been coming in from wrestlers throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, as well as competitors across the United States and Canada, to be included in Saturday night's battle royal. Everyone on the CWF Mid-Atlantic roster has petitioned for entry in the title tournament for this Saturday, as there has never been an opportunity for just about anyone to receive a chance to win the coveted Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Title. Commissioner Cross is sorting through the requests, along with the requests from many non-AWA wrestlers that have asked to be included, to select twenty top candidates to compete in the one night tournament. One wrestler that won't be there, and is very upset by the timing of this title deciding bout, is the "King of Old School" Steve Corino. Corino, a former AWA World Hwt. Champion and currently 1/2 of the AWA World Tag Team Champions, has vowed to get that title back from Ric Converse. Corino did not provide any official comments, however he has suggested that Commissioner Cross timed the tournament to insure that Corino was in Japan so that he couldn't win the vacated championship. Rumor is that Corino will be making his way back to the Carolina Sports Arena soon to go after the Mid-Atlantic Title to insure he receives a future AWA World Hwt. Title bout against Converse. Also on tap for this Saturday night includes more tournament matches from the 3rd Annual Johnny Weaver Cup. One of those matches will include Xsiris versus Cham Pain with personal assistant Ashley Walker. This match is a rematch from Cham Pain's return to the CWF, however this time the stakes are much higher than a singles matchup. The winner will advance into the quarterfinals of the tournament, reaching the "Elite Eight" of this year's summer long single elimination tourney. AWA Mid-Atlantic Television Champion Michael McAllister was eliminated from the Weaver Cup two weeks ago by Brass Munkey. The victory appeared to have also included the title, but McAllister was defeated in 10:02, while the TV Title is only on the line for 10-minutes. McAllister may have dodged a bullet in that contest, but this week he'll have to make his second title defense against a randomly selected opponent. Can McAllsiter defy the odds and retain the title he stole from Rob McBride for another TV Taping? Plus with all the big talk from the AWA Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Champions, Garry "Madd Trucker" Stevens & "A Very Handsome Man" Mitch Connor are demanding a match for this Saturday as well. The team was so confident that no tag team could beat them, they have issued an open challenge for this weekend. Who will accept the challenge? You'll have to be at the Carolina Sports Arena this Saturday night to find out!!! All your favorites will be there including AWA World Hwt. Champion Ric Converse, AWA Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Champions Garry Stevens & Mitch Connor, AWA Mid-Atlantic Television Champion Michael McAllister, Rising Generation League Champion Ultra Dragon, Otto Schwanz, Rob "Boogie Woogie Man" McBride, Xsiris, Brad Attitude, Gemini Kid, "Rock 'n' Roll" Matty Dee, GeeStar, "Box Office Draw" Mikael Yamaha, Donnie Dollars & Amber O'Neal with manager Brad Stutts, "Dangerous E" Corey Edsel with manager Sheik Cornelius J. Lumpkin III, The New Dynasty of Joey Silvia, Steve Greene & Trent Wylde, plus more!!! You'll see at least one new champion this Saturday night, guaranteed! And if luck runs high, this Saturday could result in three new champions!!! Don' you dare miss it!!! Link: www.indyinsiders.com www.IndyInsiders.Com
