The second of three straight weeks of wrestling in Burlington is sure to be another hot night of action inside the air-conditioned Carolina Sports Arena. Two major matches in the Johnny Weaver Cup Tournament are set to take place to determine the remainder of the "Elite 8." Twenty men started in the annual summer long tourney, but after Sautrday we'll be down to only eight as we move toward the final rounds in August. The two premeire matchups will feature AWA Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Champion Rob "Boogie Woogie Man" McBride taking on Joey Silvia. Silvia claims that McBride should not be the champion, as he disputes his loss to the Boogie Man just a few weeks ago when Ric Converse made the three count to award McBride the championship. Siliva orchestrated a controversial victory just last week over the trios of McBride, Tank Lawson, and Otto Schwanz. Now Silvia will have the back up his boasts in the ring, one-on-one with the Boogie Woogie Man. Also in Weaver Cup action, 1/2 of the AWA Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Champions and last year's runner-up in the Weaver Cup, Garry "Madd Trucker" Stevens faces the ever popular Tank Lawson. Lawson has been embroiled in a bitter feud with former manager Shiek Cornelius J. Lumpkin III and his foreign army. Just last week a mysterious monster of a man attacked Lawson during the main event, leaving him laying at ringside. While most believe this is Shiek Lumpkin's newest addition, Lumpkin has refused to comment to us directly if it so. Lawson has had constant problems from Shiek Lumpkin's army but so far has gotten the better of them but can Tank get the better of Garry Stevens? Meanwhile the Madd Trucker has been driving all the tag team competition in the Mid-Atlantic into the ditches, as he and partner "A Very Handsome Man" Mitch Connor have keep a tight grip on their tag team titles for nearly six straight months. Both Stevens and Connor have vowed to win this year's Weaver Cup. Connor has advanced to the Elite 8 and a win by Stevens will propel him into the Elite 8 also. There will be one championship bout on this Saturday's event as Michael McAllister will once again defend the AWA Mid-Atlantic Television Title. McAllister has made it an artform on how to run out the clock on the 10-minute TV time limit to preserve his championship reign. However this week, as the request of the fans, Commissioner Cross has ordered an extended time limit of 15-minutes. McAllister's opponent will be randomly drawn from a pool of former opponents which includes Brad Attitude, Brass Munkey, Kamakazi Kid and the Gemini Kid. Can McAllister dodge the bullet for an additional five minutes or will this be the week that a new TV Champion is crowned?! All this and so much more including a special announcement regarding AWA World Heavyweight Champion Ric Converse! Converse successfully defended his title in Bay City, Michgian last weekend against AWA World-1 Champion Ricky Landell. He has three huge title defenses already scheduled for August including dates in Lousiana, Georgia, and Flordia. But this Saturday night everyone will find out about Converse's return to his hometown fans at the Carolina Sports Arena!!! See all of your favorites this Saturday night in Burlington including the AWA Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Champion Rob "Boogie Woogie Man" McBride, AWA Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Champions Garry "Madd Trucker" Stevens & "A Very Handsome Man" Mitch Connor, AWA Mid-Atlantic Television Champion Michael McAllister, Rising Generation League Champion Ultra Dragon, Jesse Ortega, Brass Munkey, "Rock 'n' Roll" Matty Dee, Xsiris, Tank Lawson, Joey Silvia, "Simply" Steve Greene, "Box Office Draw" Mikael Yamaha, DonnieDollars, Marcellus King, Julius Augustus, and more!!!
