The "Summer Action Series" is in its final month with three monster events to occur in August! This week will feature two quarterfinal bouts from the 3rd Annual Johnny Weaver Cup Tournament, a special Torneo Cibernetico, and the return to action in Burlington of the AWA World Heavyweight Champion! Ric Converse returns to his home arena this Saturday night to compete for the first time in Burlington since capturing the AWA World Heavyweight Title! Fans welcomed the conquoring hero back to Burlington for an appearance, but as the new World Champion, has been wrestling outside his home base ever since. This time Converse returns to Burlington to step inside the squared circle for action! As Converse returns to action here, the talk among wrestlers is just who will have the opportunity to face him for the coveted championship. Obviously the AWA Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Champion, Rob "Boogie Woogie Man" McBride, would have to be considered one of the top contenders, but many others are possibly positioning themselves at a potential shot at the World Title. Joey Siliva certainly has a claim to such a matchup after defeating McBride just last week in non-title action. Adding to that is the hatred that Converse and Silvia have for each other, it could be the right mixture to see Silvia get the prized opportunity. However the list doesn't stop there. Ric Converse gave his opinions to both Commissioner William L. Cross and AWA President Dale Gagne on who he'd prefer to defend the title against here in Burlington. "It's an opportunity that can change one's life, as I have found out first-hand. I want the person that has the most hunger, the person that is going to give me the best fight, someone that understands just how precious this chance is," Converse commeted. The World Champion continued, "I feel certain that Commissioner Cross will select the best opponenent possible." Unable to make the decision in time for this Saturday, Commissioner Cross pulled a few strings to bring back the AWA World Champion again in two weeks. Cross has decided that he's going to put the opportunity into the hands of the wrestlers this Saturday night to decide who will receive the AWA World Heavyweight Title Match on August 19th! A special Torneo Cibernetico will be held, with the winner getting the World Title shot! The Cibernetico has proven to be one of the most exiciting matches held in the Carolina Sports Arena, debuting last year at the AWA World Light Heavyweight Title Tournament. The match starts out with two teams and progresses elimination style until only one person is left. Fans have shown their apprecitation for this nonstop action type bout, and this week the prize for winning will be the opportunity of a lifetime!!! In addition to seeing Ric Converse in non-title action and the special Toreno Cibernetico, two huge Weaver Cup Quaterfinal bouts will take place. The most shocking of which will pit the AWA Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Champions against each other! Garry "Madd Trucker" Stevens will face "A Very Handsome Man" Mitch Connor, with the winner advancing to the "Final Four" of the tournament. Amazingly, both competitors reached the final four in last years tournament. Both have also boasted that they would be winning the trophy cup this year, but only one can actually make it to finals night on August 26th. This match actually could hold more than advancing in the tournament as the tag team champions must figure out a way to face each other without harming their six month title reign. This is one unique bout that you'd never get to see at any other time, but thanks to the Johnny Weaver Cup Tournament, such matchups can happen! Also in Weaver Cup Quarterfinals action will be "Simply" Steve Greene squaring off against the Gemini Kid. Greene has been on a tear lately, knocking off opponents, referees, and fans alike. Since turning his back on former friend Ric Converse and aligning himself with the fake Dynasty, he's shown nothing but disrespect for everyone, including the 20-year veteran Gemini Kid. Greene plans on dispatching Gemini in short fashion to move to the final four, where another improbable matchup could occur, should Joey Silvia advance again too... a new Dynasty dominated finals with Greene and Silvia! Greene shouldn't look too far in the future past this Saturday night as Gemini Kid has been on his own tear. Gemini already took out one new Dynasty member in the tournament when he defeated Trent Wylde. Another win this week would make 2 down, 1 to go to, and Gemini Kid would go from "New Dynasty Hunter" to the "New Dyansty Killer." All this and so much more featuring all your favorites including: AWA World Heavyweight Champion Ric Converse, AWA Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Champion Rob "Boogie Woogie Man" McBride, New crowned AWA Mid-Atlantic Television Champion Brass Munkey, AWA Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Champions Garry "Madd Trucker" Stevens & "A Very Handsome Man" Mitch Connor, Rising Generation League Champion Ultra Dragon, Otto Schwanz, Kamakazi Kid, Jesse Ortega, Tank Lawson, Gemini Kid, Brad Attitude, Brandon Day, United Nations Of Devastation, Joey Silvia, "Simply" Steve Greene, Trent Wylde, Marcellus King, former TV Champion Michael McAllister and many more! Don't you dare miss it!!! Link: Indy Insiders - That's Right, We Bad! www.IndyInsiders.Com
