As most of the world already now knows the AWA World Tag Team Titles have been returned to Steve Corino and Ricky Landell after the AWA's Board of Directors ruled the match a no contest. Serving as both the Commissioner of CWF Mid-Atlantic Wrestling and as the current Chairman for the AWA Board of Directors, I feel the need to set the record straight and address many issues in Mr. Corino's protest and the ruling of the Board on this matter. 1. Mr. Corino was knowingly misleading the board when he stated that the CWF has an automatic disqualification rule for being tossed over the top rope. This is a rule still used in many of the AWA territories but not in the CWF Mid-Atlantic. 2. A pair of brass knuckles were introduced into the match. However the weapon was brought into the ring by Mr. Corino and Mr. Landell and was removed from Corino's trunks when the referee found them during his pre-match inspection. Mr. Corino was reprimanded and the match was started. 3. The referee did inadvertently go down during the match, at which time Mr. Corino reclaimed his brass knuckles from the pocket of the fallen referee. 4. Ric Converse did enter the ring. However the only reason that he did so was to stop Mr. Corino from using the brass knuckles he had just removed from the referee's pocket. The fact of the matter is that both Steve Corino and Ricky Landell, in their own protest have purposely mislead the AWA Board of Directors. Thanks to the video tape supplied by the offices here at the CWF the board members quickly saw through their charade. However because, the pinfall was counted by a unsanctioned referee (Ric Converse) it was the opinion of the AWA Board to return the World Tag Team Titles to Corino and Landell and rule the match as a no contest. That is the AWA's official ruling. As for my statement on the situation, I will try to keep it as politically correct as possible. Do I like the ruling? No, I voted against it. Will I accept it? Yes. In the past I have had a wrestler, in fact Ric Converse himself count a pinfall and I've let it "officially" stand. This was however in a title match that respresented the CWF Mid-Atlantic region and not the entire globe as in the case of the AWA World Tag Titles. Should I have done it? Who knows. Did it give us false hope? Who knows, hind-sight is 20/20. But I will tell you this, the AWA Board of Directors has ruled that Rob McBride and Tank Lawson will receive the rematch that is coming to them. When that rematch takes place, Steve Corino and Ricky Landell, I want you to understand one thing, protest all you want but you will face McBride and Lawson in the one place you said that you would never step foot in again... the CWF Mid-Atlantic. The countdown to the company's anniversay event to be held on Saturday, December 30th, entitled BattleCade VII, has begun. Two giant bouts have already been announced, but more are on the way. The main event will feature former friends squaring off in a match that has a year in the making. Since turning on his friend and securing representation of "The Manager of Champions" Ty Dillinger, Joey Silvia has reached all-time heights in his career. Silvia is the reigning AWA Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Champion and with that title has secured the #1 ranked contendership to the AWA World Heavyweight Crown held by the man he stabbed in the back, Ric Converse. The two have battled each other in the ring only twice since the fateful night that Silvia's jealousy caused him to attack his then friend Converse. However both those bouts saw only limited contact between the two and were during six-man action and the recent Triathlon Survivor match. This time the two will meet one-on-one with a huge score to settle, but also with the most prized possession in the world or wrestling up for grabs. Joey Silvia, with assistance from his devious manager Ty Dillinger, have secured a shot at the AWA World Heavyweight Championship at BattleCade VII on what Dillinger has proclaimed to be "A Night of Destiny." Dillinger has given his band of hooligans their new name. After losing the rights to the Dynasty name to Converse, Xsiris & Brad Attitude as the Ultimate Survivor event, Ty Dillinger announced his group is now to be known as Fatal Destiny. "BattleCade VII, a Night of Destiny! It's our night! It's Joey Silvia's night! Ric Converse is going to learn that no one can stop Destiny!" exclaimed manager Ty Dillinger during his phone interview. He continued, "Yes, I know all the history. BattleCade has always been Ric Converse's night. He's never, ever, even been beat at a BattleCade event! I know it, the fans know it, and most importantly, Joey Silvia knows it. But you know that winning streaks must come to an end. Ric Converse has held onto that World Championship way too long. He's beaten every top contender in the world, that is, every one except the Mid-Atlantic Champion, Joey Silvia!" "You mark my words..." Dillinger shouted at us. "A Night of Destiny will mark the end of Ric Converse and the final evolution of the 'Infamous Icon' Joey Silvia. Joey has done everything that Converse has, he just hasn't received his rightful glory. We had the better Dynasty, we have the Mid-Atlantic Title, and come BattleCade VII, we are going to do what Converse did but this time even better when Joey has both the Mid-Atlantic Title belt and the AWA World Title belt on his chiseled shoulders!" Also scheduled for the December 30th anniversary event is a special Grudge Tag Team Match as Kamakazi Kid & Ultra Dragon battle Gemini Kid & Jesse Ortega. The ongoing feud between Kazi and Gemini was thought to be settled in the "Cage of Death" but instead has only erupted into a wildfire as Ortega ended up helping Gemini escape the cage and forcing Kazi to face his best friend Ultra Dragon and eventually having to unmask Dragon. Now the four-some will face each other in tag team action with very relaxed rules, as there is a huge grudge to be settled. Kazi has already informed us that he intended to get his revenge against Gemini and Ortega by beating them senseless but that he has a higher final goal of shaving the head of Gemini Kid. As much as the fans were upset with how Gemini avoided losing his hair in the "Cage of Death," he seemed to be just as upset with the prospect of putting his hair on the line another time. "There is no way that I am giving that masked maniac another shot at my hair. Everyone can see that he lies, he cheats, and he steals his way in the hearts of the fans because they are just like him! It makes me sick!" stated the Gemini Kid. While their will be no hair vs. mask match between the two at BattleCade, they will be in the ring to fight and you've got to think that Kazi has every intention of reaching his goal, one way or another! There is a rumor that another title will be on the line at BattleCade VII. Fatal Destiny member "Simply" Steve Greene has petitioned for yet another title match against Brass Munkey for the AWA Mid-Atlantic Television Title. Greene's manager, Ty Dillinger, denoted that Greene scored a victory over Munkey during the December 2nd AWA Spotlight event and with it earned the right for another championship match. Greene has faced Munkey on numerous occasions but has yet to be able to obtain the championship. Greene & Munkey are actually former AWA Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Champions, holding the titles together after defeating Ivan Koloff & Sean Powers in a double chain match. The highly successful duo split with Brass Munkey so far accomplishing more by winning the TV Title. No official word has been released on this potential bout however the rumor also states that it will be fought under a special holiday stipulations. Brass Munkey retained his TV Title in a "Trick or Treat Match" previously where a pair of brass knuckles was placed into a treat bag in one of the four corners and was legal to use if found. This match perhaps could be something similar. Details of the final card and more updates next week as the countdown continued to the December 30th anniversary mega-event... BattleCade VII!!!
