AWA World Tag Team Champions Gemini Kid & Jesse "El Fuego" Ortega defeated the Neon Lions (Lee Valiant & "Classic" Chris Collins) by pinfall to retain the titles (20:38) 6. Mid Atlantic Heavyweight Champion "Infamous Icon" Joey Silvia w/manager Ty Dillinger defeated Xsiris by pinfall to retain the title (20:44) Officials: Charles Richardson, Katie Kincaid, Redd Jones & Chris Troxler Notes: Missing in action recently, Mikael Yamaha returned to the CWF Mid Atlantic ring to enter the ring behind the referee's back to take out Donnie Dollar$, allowing "Rock N Roll" Matty Dee an easy pinfall victory. It was unclear whether Yamaha was making amends to Dee for their past blood feud or taking exception to Brad Stutt's Fatback Enterprises, who he walked out on last year. Following the conclusion of the main event, before either competitor could leave the ring area, AWA President William L. Cross came out and entered the ring with the house mic. After a passionate explanation of the current status of CWF Mid Atlantic and it's relationship with the AWA, Cross made yet another deal with the devil in the form of CWF Commissioner Ty Dillinger. Cross offered his resignation as president of the AWA in return for Dillinger signing the legal documents to "remove the cancer" that is the AWA from CWF Mid Atlantic. Cross then called out "a few select persons" to speak, with the ring filling with the entire roster. Cross asked each wrestler who they chose, the AWA or CWF, all of the wrestlers from one dressing room chose CWF rank and file. The "other" dressing room took a little coaxing from Cross, leaving only the "Dillinger-proclaimed" AWA World Tag Champions Gemini Kid & Jesse "El Fuego" Ortega, Commissioner Ty Dillinger & Mid Atlantic Champ Joey Silvia. Cross explained that the board room had stripped the titles from the previous champions rather than doing it in a man's way, in the ring, and that the AWA was not recognizing them as the champions. After a few minutes, Gemini & Ortega went to the CWF side, leaving Dillinger & Silvia to make it unanimous. After a few moments of arguement, Gemini & Ortega returned to remind Dillinger that if he went CWF after Cross resigned as AWA President, that he would be in total control and Cross would not even have a position with the company. That, and the fact that Silvia was questioning why he never got his "automatic 1 contender" shot at the AWA World Champion, turned the tables, giving Cross a 100% vote of confidence from the entire company. The fans were quickly on the side of CWF, chanting the name several times during the final moments of the confrontation that never materialized. Unity stands tall in CWF Mid Atlantic, but as Commissioner Dillinger was ordering Cross to leave the Carolina Sports Arena facility, Cross pulled a fast one of his own. During the contract signing earlier to remove the company from the AWA and the AWA Presidential resignation, Dillinger had been duped into signing a third document, a contract which was for a shot at the Mid Atlantic Heavyweight Title. Former three-time champion "the 1st" Ric Converse entered and the contract was announced, giving Converse the right to name the time and date for the rematch that never happened from Battlecade. Converse quickly announced that he would take on Silvia on Saturday August 11th at the Carolina Sports Arena in Burlington NC in the TV Taping main event. Converse also dropped the bombshell that he had signed a manager for that night, to offset the advantage of Dillinger at ringside, none other than former Commissioner and AWA President William L. Cross. Link: Still Makin' The Donuts! www.IndyInsiders.Com
