CWF Mid-Atlantic returns to the Carolina Sports Arena in Burlington, NC this Saturday, January 5th, with a 7:30pm belltime. This is thefirst event of 2008 and sure to be a major night of wrestling action!
New Year's Knockout kicks off the new year for CWF Mid-Atlantic topped by a rematch from Battlecade! The VIPs, Jesse Ortega & Gemini Kid, retained their Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Titles last month against The Blaze Runnerz, Mikael Yamaha & Matty Dee. The champions kept their belts due to the 30-minute time limit expiring, as both were caught in the figure-4 leglock by Yamaha & Dee.
Witnessing how the bout concluded, and prompted by the ringside fans, Commissioner Cross ordered a return match between the two teams for this Saturday night. However Cross has added a special stipultion to help insure a fair fight... the third VIP member, Steve Greene, has been barred from ringside! With the odds now even, Yamaha & Dee hope to ring in the new year by winning the Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Titles. A win would give Yamaha a third tag title reign and mark the first CWF championship held by Matty Dee.
One half of the tag champions, Gemini Kid, responded to the upcoming rematch by stating the VIPs were going to have another clean sweep. "The VIPs will once again prove why we hold all the titles. This is the last chance for Cross to hand pick our opponents. Jesse Ortega and myself are going to ring in our own new year, a new direction for tag team wrestling in the Mid-Atlantic. One based on where everything good is from, and that is from Mexico. We've competed in Mexico and seen that the best teams are there, so Cross you're going to be forced to bring in a Mexican team to face us after we once again send home one of the local favorites and let these fans realize that lucha libre is the future of wrestling," stated Gemini Kid.
Fans are excited about the potential title change in this main event contest, but many more top bouts are slated. This also includes the new Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Champion, Ric Converse, in non-title action. Converse capture the heavyweight crown for a record forth time at Battlecade VIII after going over 18-months without the title. With his long crusade to recapture the title over, Converse's goal will now shift to retaining that title against the top contenders in the Mid-Atlantic territory. Commissioner Cross is set to announce Converse's first title defense later in the night.
Another top match announced for this Saturday night is the high flying team of the Kamakazi Kid & Xsiris to take on Sheik Lumpkin's Arab Army. The Sheik's expanding Army which now includes newest member, Michael McAllister, has been on a roll. Can the Arab Army continue to dominate their opponents or can the death defying fan favorites stop that momentum?
ALSO: The Presentation of the 2007 IndyInsiders.Com Awards!
All this and so much more including Mid-Atlantic Television Champion "High Definition" Steve Greene, Rob "Boogie Woogie Man" McBride, Tank Lawson, Alex Adonis, Brass Munkey, new Rising Generation League Champion Nick Richards, and more in action this Satuday night in Burlington, NC at the Carolina Sports Arena!
