*** 30-Men Enter... Only 1 Survives! Plus Heavyweight Title Bout!
CWF Mid-Atlantic returns to the Carolina Sports Arena in Burlington, NC this Saturday, October 18th, with a 7:30pm belltime. This is a
huge event with a full card of action!
Born as a fund-raising event following the tragic events of 9/11, the original 2001 "All-Star Indy Rumble" drew tremendous local media coverage as well as being praised by all participants involved. It was brought back in 2002 and quickly became one of the premier events on the CWF calendar. On October 18th, 2008; at it's 199th live event, CWF will again host this massive gathering which will not only feature the 8th Annual 30-person CWF Rumble but also feature what has become an annual tradition at this event - a Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight title defense, by the first 5-time champion in the history of the belt - "The 1st" Ric Converse! The Board of Directors have deemed the unpredictable Otto Schwanz at the new #1 Contender for the heavyweight crown and will challenge Converse this Saturday night! For more information and remaining ticket availability, please visit cwf247.com!
Also remember, another annual tradition will take place at the Rumble, as the first 30 paid fans to enter the Carolina Sports Arena will draw a name from those wrestlers entered into the event. The fan with the winning name will win a special prize!
---------------------
THE 8th ANNUAL CWF RUMBLE - THE PARTICIPANTS
Corey Edsel: Former Mid-Atlantic Heavyeight Champion ... Hasn't actually competed in an Rumble since he won it in 2002 ... His return to the site of one of his greatest wins changes the entire dynamic of the match ... At 450 punds and surprising endurance, the favorite no matter what number he draws ... Odds: 5-1
The "Newcomer": Very little is known about this massive, myserious newcomer that has been seen in recent weeks ... Alert fans have pointed out his baseball cap, which tends to indicate that he has a very prominent background ... Possibly the most physical imposing specmine to ever compete in a Rumble ... Odds: 7-1
Rob McBride: Former Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight, Television, and Tag Team Champion ... Only person in company history to hold both the heavyweight and tag titles simultaneously ... One of the most popular wrestlers and no stranger to the Final 4 of the Rumble ... Has added motivation to win the Rumble to secure a rematch with Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight champion Ric Converse, who robbed him of the title less than one month ago ... Odds: 10-1
Joey Silvia: Appearing in his 3rd CWF Rumble ... Former Mid-Atlantic Heavyeight Champion ... Is willing to fight everyone and anyone in an attempt to reclaim his past glory ... His greatest adversary could be his family, as his wife is scheduled to go into labor the day of the Rumble! ... Odds: 12-1
Marcellus King: Appearing in his 4th CWF Rumble ... Current Mid-Atlantic Television champion ... Went all the way to the final two of the Rumble three years ago ... Is arguably having the greatest year of his entire career ... Odds: 15-1
Solomon Spades: Appearing in his 4th CWF Rumble ... The Aftermath has just recently added the psychopath to their faction and fully plans on him bringing the Rumble victory back to their fold ... As unpredictable as it gets ... Odds: 15-1
Jesse Ortega: Appearing in his 5th CWF Rumble ... Former Mid-Atlantic Television and Tag Team Champion ... Has already won a Weaver Cup and had a TV Title run that broke records, so a Rumble win would only add to his growing legacy ... Displays the intensity that is perfect for this type of environment ... VIP allegiance with Gemini Kid and Steve Greene could ensure he lasts to the end as they attempt to conquer the "racism" that suppossedly runs rampant within the Board of Directors that had denied him a title bout... A win will guarantee Ortega a title bout of his choosing ... Odds: 15-1
Brass Munkey: Appearing in his 7th CWF Rumble ... Former Mid-Atlantic Television and Tag Team Champion ... Recently acheived the biggest win of his career as Weaver Cup champion and has been virtually unstoppable in 2008 ... Seems destined to capture last year's Rumble before dislocated his kneecap during an undercard match but still toughed it out in one of the gutsiest Rumble performances ever ... Odds: 20-1
Donnie Dollars: Appearing in his 4th CWF Rumble ... Looks to add a Rumble win to Fatback Enterprise as stablemates Mitch Connor and Matthew De Nero have done the past two years ... Looks to be one win away from reaching his true potential and a Rumble win would do that and then some ... Odds: 20-1
Steve Greene: Appearing in his 7th CWF Rumble ... Former Mid-Atlantic Television and Tag Team Champion ... Has two VIP members in Gemini Kid and Jesse Ortega to assist him ... Looking to get back on track since losing the Television title earlier in the year ... Certainly has the power and savvy to escape with a win ... Made the final two in last year's Rumble ... Odds: 20-1
Xsiris: Appearing in his 6th CWF Rumble ... Current Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Champion ... High Flying antics have frequently cost him in Rumble matches in the past but is on as hot of a streak as anyone else on the roster going into this year's event ... Odds: 25-1
Lee Valiant: Appearing in his 2nd CWF Rumble ... Former Mid-Atlantic Television Champion ... Had a very impressive showing at his first Rumble last year ... Has been robbed of two consecutive main event bouts recently at the hands of the V.I.Ps ... Odds: 25-1
Gemini Kid: Appearing in his 5th CWF Rumble ... Has had ridiculously good luck in the Rumble, with his worst number ever drawn being #27 ... 20+ year veteran has made Final Four in 3 of his 4 Rumble matches ... If can team up with VIP members Jesse Ortega and Steve Greene with another lucky number, could likely capture the win ... Odds: 30-1
Mitch Connor: Appearing in his 4th CWF Rumble ... Strangely enough, he won the 2006 event but in 2005 and 2007, he nearly set the records for shortest time lasted ... Does not come in at 100% thanks to some extremely physical bouts against Fatback Enterprises ... Odds: 30-1
Roy Wilkins: Appearing in his 3rd CWF Rumble ... Former Rising Generation League Champion ... Full of fight and with no real feuds could fly under the radar to the end ... The epitome of dark horse but his recent intensity alongside Brass Munkey should not be overlooked ... Odds: 40-1
Michael McAllister: Appearing in his 3rd CWF Rumble ... Former Mid-Atlantic Television Champion... Is a notoriously hated wrestler ... His success lies in his cunningness to manipulate others to fight his battles for him (which is perfect for a rumble) ... His recent alliance with Evan Banks and Bobby O'Neil could play a big role ... Odds: 40-1
Gregory Vercetti: Appearing in his 3rd CWF Rumble ... Apparently at a career crossroads, having seemingly turned over a new leaf two weeks ago ... Regardless, will still find a difficult time finding friends in this environment ... Odds: 40-1
Nick Richards: Appearing in his 3rd CWF Rumble, including going over 30 minutes in last year's event ... A repeat of last year's performance would seem impossible if not for his alliance with Fatback Enterprises ... Odds: 50-1
Evan Banks: Appearing in his 1st CWF Rumble ... Untested in these waters which is never good ... Alliances with Michael McAllister and Bobby O'Neil could be a saving grace ... Odds: 50-1
Ray Kandrack: Appearing in his 2nd CWF Rumble ... Massive contender appears to have the best odds out of the Rising Generation Leaguers ... Should NOT be overlooked by anyone ... Odds: 80-1
Chase Dakota: Appearing in his 1st CWF Rumble ... Rookie has a ton of heart but very little experience ... Would certainly be a career hi-light with a solid performance here ... Odds: 100-1
Chiva Kid: Appearing in his 1st CWF Rumble ... The youngest, and possibly most athletic, of the Chiva family looks to make big waves in his inital venture ... Possibly too small to last long but could certainly pull a surprise or two out ... Odds: 100-1
Cecil Scott: Appearing in his 2nd CWF Rumble ... Rising Generation Leaguer competitor has been AWOL for the better part of the past year ... Looks to make his return match a memorable one ... Odds: 125-1
Matt Smith: Appearing in his 1st CWF Rumble ... Very little in-ring experience going in but as determined as anyone on the roster ... Odds: 125-1
Arik Royal: Appearing in his 1st CWF Rumble ... A big question mark as Royal makes his professional debut but has more size than half the other competitors ... Odds: 125-1
Rudy Lewis: Appearing in his 1st CWF Rumble ... The "One Man Boy Band" will have to do a lot more than sing to survive this ... Odds: 150-1
The Field: Everyone else in the CWF Rumble ... All must look to the success of Brad Attitude, who started his career in this very match and won it two years later ... Long, long, long shots at best and the luck of the draw will be their best friend or worst enemy ... Odds: 1,000-1
This Annual Rumble event is always one of the most exciting events of the year! 30 men will enter... but only 1 will survive to claim a future title shot of his choice! Add to that the huge Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Title bout with Ric Converse versus former champion Otto Schwanz, and more bonus matches, this is certainly an event that you can't pass up!
