CWF Mid-Atlantic returns to the Carolina Sports Arena in Burlington, NC this Saturday, November 15th, with a 7:30pm belltime.
This is a huge event with a full card of action featuring Survivor Styled bouts!
This Saturday's main event will see the return to Burlington of the most dangerous match in CWF history, the CAGE OF DEATH!
Eight wrestlers drafted to two teams will be locked inside a steel cage but once the door shuts its every man -- or woman -- for themselves! Escaping the cage means saving your own hair but in doing so you hurt your team AND risk serious injury as climbing over the 10 foot tall cage and plummeting to the floor carries a high risk of serious injury.
The last two people left inside the cage compete in a singles match that can only be won by pinfall or submission, leaving one ultimate survivor. The loser is shaved bald inside the ring in front of all the fans at the Carolina Sports Arena -- arguably the ultimate public humiliation for any pro wrestler.
This year's Cage of Death will bring culmination to one of 2008's most bitter feuds stemming from a real life friendship and business partnership gone sour.
Mitch Connor seemed to be a can't miss prospect for Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Champion after winning the 2006 CWF Rumble and 2007 Johnny Weaver Cup tournament. But a series of devastating high profile loses brought a strain on his relationship with manager Brad Stutts. After several very public disagreements, Stutts added Corey Edsel and Matthew de Nero to his Fatback Enterprises stable having seemingly lost confidence in Connor as his ace. Tensions continued to rise and Connor continued hearing the cheers of the CWF fans until Stutts finally gave into mounting pressure from Edsel & De Nero and booted Connor from the group.
Since then, war has waged between Stutts' Fatback Enterprises and Connor, with many CWF superstars aiding Connor in violent battles against the group, including a memorable Tornado tag-team bout at CWF MAX.
Now this feud will culminate inside the ultra-violent Cage of Death! Connor has recruited Rob "Boogie Woogie Man" McBride, who has had issues with Stutts & Edsel dating back over five years, as well as Roy "Rage" Wilkins and the "World's Most Dangerous Woman" GeeStar, both angered by the change in their former partner Matthew de Nero, to join him in the cage. Having broken gender barriers before, including becoming the only woman to ever win the Mid-Atlantic Television Championship, GeeStar will now become the first woman to ever enter the Cage of Death.
Fatback Enterprises brings their entire team into battle against Connor's squadron: "Dangerous E" Corey Edsel; Donnie Dollar$; "Jersey" Nick Richards and Matthew de Nero, returning from a broken ankle inflicted by Connor at Superbrawl III.
Parental advisory is strongly suggested, as anything goes inside the cage of death until there is one definite loser and one ultimate survivor and this is expected to be among the most violent matches ever sanctioned by CWF Mid-Atlantic.
Another high profile survivor match that started the CWF's "Ultimate Survivor" event, the Triathlon Survivor, will see two team battle in a best of three falls match featuring a singles, tag team, and six-man tag. This year's teams will pit the Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Champions Mikael Yamaha & Xsiris, and the 2008 Johnny Weaver Cup Winner Brass Munkey, against "The Aftermath" (Mid-Atlantic Hwt. Champion Ric Converse, Ryan O'Reilly, Solomon Spades, managed by William L. Cross).
Tensions are high between all six of these competitors as the Aftermath is on the hunt to capture the Tag Team Titles and give suspended Commissioner Cross even more leverage in retaking control of the company, while Brass Munkey has announced that at this year's anniversary event in December, Battlecade IX, he wants to face Converse for the heavyweight crown.
This year's Triathlon will have a drawing prior to the first fall to decide the order of the matches and teams will have to quickly decide how to fill out their teams to compete in the first fall, which could be a singles match, tag team, or six-man contest.
Also returning to "Ultimate Survivor" is the Torneo Cibernetico. This fast paced lucha libre inspired survivor match will see two teams square off and try to eliminate everyone from their opposing side, but should there be more than one survivor on the remaining team, those members will have to split up and compete until there is only one ultimate survivor.
Team captains have been declared as Lee Valiant and Jesse Ortega will lead their respective teams into the Cibernetico. The two captains have been recruiting members from the CWF Mid-Atlantic roster to fill out their sides, and will not be revealed until this Saturday night when the captains will be required to place their team members in a "batting order" from which they will enter the ring in that respective order throughout the bout or until eliminated from their team.
Eliminations will come from pinfalls, submissions, and being thrown over the top rope by your opponent. Physical tags are not necessary, as leaving the ring is considered an automatic tag as all lucha libre tag bouts are.
This special contest has always been a crowd pleaser and is sure to be once again this year!
This is always one of the most exciting events of the year with a guaranteed head shaving at the end of the night!
Don't you dare miss it!!!
