*** The Last Ever Event at the Carolina Sports Arena!!!
CWF Mid-Atlantic returns to the Carolina Sports Arena in Burlington,
NC this Saturday, May 30th, with a 7:30pm belltime. This will be the LAST EVER EVENT at the Carolina Sports Arena. Be a part of this historic event as the CSA is closed forever and be prepared for a brand new and bigger new building to be unveiled on June 20th!
This is a special card of action including at least two big title bouts and a very special bonus 10-man tag team main event that will culminate the live pro wrestling that has been held at the CSA.
Two championship bouts are guaranteed for this Saturday night! One is set in stone, as Mid-Atlantic TV Champion Lee Valiant will defend against "The King of Heat" Gemini Kid. When these two last fought each other in a one-on-one contest, Gemini scored the win in a controversial First Blood Match. However, Valiant scored a much bigger victory, giving Gemini a concussion and putting him out of action for three months. Both these two are out for revenge and the big question will be can the ring contain their hatred in the match!
Gemini Kid commented on the big match this weekend, "I built the Sports Arena, and I'm going to close it down by winning the Television Title and breaking all the hearts of those sorry Lee Valiant fans."
The second title bout is still in negotiations as we issue this press release. Brad Stutts' Fatback Enterprises are lobbying for a rematch against Michael McAllister & Evan Banks for the Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Titles. Their first title shot two weeks ago resulted in a countout victory, but the titles cannot change hands except by pinfall, submission, or knockout. Stutts has requested the rematch have an added stipulation of "no countouts" to prevent the champions from walking about again. However, Commissioner Garry Stevens has not made a ruling at this time.
The other rumored title bout would have Brass Munkey defending his Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Championship. Munkey is set to face #1 contender Marcellus King, however manager William L. Cross has already inked King's title shot for June 20th at "Absolute Justice 2009." Will Munkey make one final title defense this Saturday night before moving to the new Sportatorium building? Several wrestlers have been in contact with Commissioner Stevens clamoring to get that coveted title bout.
Also slated for this Saturday night "The 1st" Ric Converse will address the CSA crowd for the first time since his mocking of the Kamakazi Kid's injuries and cowardly attack of a CWF cameraman 2 weeks ago. Will Converse again humiliate for retired superstar? Will Kazi appear to confront Converse this time?
As if all this is not enough, a bonus dream match has been signed to headline the card. The main event for this Saturday night's card will be a one time only special bout that we guarantee you will not want to miss. As we say goodbye to the building that has been our home for nearly six full years now, the final match ever held in the Carolina Sports Arena will be an enormous ten man tag team battle of the Mid-Atlantic all stars!
CWF's two longest tenured competitors GEMINI KID and "THE BOX OFFICE DRAW" MIKAEL YAMAHA were the first two competitors drafted to their respective teams. Both competed on the very first CWF show ever and they were actually tag-team partners on the first card ever held at the Carolina Sports Arena back in August 2003.
With the announcement of this all-star match, Gemini immediately petitioned, and was granted, inclusion of his VIP partner "EL FUEGO" JESSE ORTEGA & "SIMPLY" STEVE GREENE, that trio has since gone public with the announcement that the former 5-time Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Champion "THE 1ST" RIC CONVERSE will be their fourth partner, with a fifth to be named at match time on the night of the final CSA event.
Already confirmed as joining Yamaha on the opposing team will be the Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Champion & RCW Heavyweight Champion BRASS MUNKEY! Munkey has set the standard in CWF Mid-Atlantic since his Battlecade IX title win and his presence alongside Yamaha will pair up perhaps CWF's two most all-time decorated wrestlers on the same team. Fatback manager Brad Stutts requested and was granted a spot on the team for the longest tenured CWF wrestler in Fatback, former 2 time Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Champion "DANGEROUS E" COREY EDSEL. This will mark the first time Edsel has been on the same team as Yamaha in 4+ years and the first time Edsel will be on the same team as his former protégé Brass Munkey in 5+ years! With all three members of the VIP's confirmed for the other team, Mid-Atlantic Television Champion LEE VALIANT jumped at the chance to add his name to mix and take them on. The team of Mikael Yamaha; Brass Munkey; Corey Edsel and Lee Valiant, in response to the team led by Gemini Kid, have ALSO elected to wait until the night of the event to reveal their fifth partner.
What we DO know is this, 10 Mid-Atlantic all-stars who helped build the Carolina Sports Arena will all say goodbye to the building where many of them made their names in this very special main event match! But while it will be a night of joyous celebration for some, it will be a night of bitter hatred for others as heated rivalries rage on up and down the card.
Don't you dare miss it!!!
