CWF MID-ATLANTIC E-NEWSLETTER SPECIAL REPORT ON THE BATTLECADE X TRIPLE THREAT MAIN EVENT!
"The 1st" Ric Converse. The most successful heavyweight in CWF history, Converse's impressive resume lists a record shattering five reigns as Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Champion and spending nearly a year as AWA World Heavyweight Champion. For years Converse entered main event after main event as the most popular star on the CWF Mid-Atlantic roster. The summer of 2008 brought a shocking change as both Converse and CWF Board of Directors chairman William L. Cross spat in the faces of the very fans who made them, by forming the self-serving Aftermath. Now only out for himself, Converse would win one more Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Title in the fall of 2008 before running into a first time ever challenger, the increasingly popular Brass Munkey, at Battlecade IX.
Brass Munkey. One of CWF's most decorated stars ever, he is a former Mid-Atlantic Television Champion, Mid-Atlantic Tag-Team Champion and 2008 Weaver Cup winner. He enters Battlecade X as the reigning and defending Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Champion, having captured the belt 12 months ago from Converse to one of the most joyous ovations in CWF history. But it has not been an easy 12 months for the champion. Having survived vicious attacks from outside invaders and grueling challenges from hard hitting opponent after hard hitting opponent, Munkey has learned the hardships that come with being champion.
Those are hardships that Converse knows all too well. "The 1st" has publicly reached out to the hugely popular champion, offering to be a mentor of sorts and help "guide" him through the pressures of being champion. Many at the Mid-Atlantic Sportatorium were surprised by how seemingly receptive the champion has been towards Converse. The two actually worked surprisingly well together in the "Wildcard Incredible Partners" main event at November's Ultimate Survivor, surviving the eight man bout and thus earning the right to meet in the Battlecade X main event.
Enter Kamakazi Kid. With questions continuing to rise regarding Munkey's motivations, Kazi has seemingly taken the torch once held by Munkey as "champion of the people" and the two former friends have done battle numerous times in recent months. By far the most crucial of those bouts saw Kazi defeat Munkey en route to winning the 2009 Weaver Cup tournament and guarantee himself a future title shot which he has cashed in to make Battlecade X's main event a first ever for Battlecade: a triple threat match.
Once the most popular wrestler on the CWF roster by far, Munkey has now seen and heard every negative remark from his critics. He has felt the pressure first hand that eventually cracked Converse and led to him forming of the despicable Aftermath. Questions have continued to rise that the very same pressures that got to Converse have gotten to Munkey. The similarities are striking.
Converse was CWF's main attraction until Munkey captured the heart of the audience who pushed him into a career defining year that drove the desperate champion Converse towards breaking the rules and ended with Munkey earning his first ever shot at the Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Title in the main event of CWF's biggest annual event, Battlecade.
Munkey was CWF's main attraction until Kamakazi Kid returned from the broken back with miraculous success that has driven the desperate champion towards breaking the rules and will end when Kazi challenges Munkey in his first ever shot at the Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Title in the main event of CWF's biggest annual event, Battlecade.
The difference maker here is clearly the third man in CWF's first ever triple threat Battlecade main event, Ric Converse. Taught the political ropes by the well-connected William Cross, Converse has emerged as the puppet master, having successfully pitted Kazi and Munkey against each other and worming his way into another Battlecade main event in the process. As all three gamble with their careers and their lives in the biggest main event in CWF history, it very well may be the more experienced Converse and Cross who hold all the winning cards.
Everyone at CWF Mid-Atlantic appreciates your support and thanks you with all our hearts for an amazing 2009. We invite you to join us for the climax of our most special year ever as CWF celebrates its birthday with the biggest card in CWF history on December 19th as we present BATTLECADE X!
