Projekt X was launched in March of 2009 as part of CWF MId-Atlantic's ambitious 2009 schedule of live events. Projekt X emphasizes young up-and-coming grapplers, often fresh out of the Mid-Atlantic dojo, gaining valuable experience inside the ring competing in front of a live crowd with every talent striving to make a name for themselves. Starting with the very first event, the response from area wrestlers was over whelming with not only prospects from the Mid-Atlantic Dojo, but young wrestlers from all over the Carolinas flooding CWF offices with e-mails and phone calls hopeful to be apart of the unique atmosphere that is Projekt X. We close out the very first year for Projekt X and kick off Battlecade X weekend on Friday December 18th with a live card featuring the semi-final round of the Rising Generation League tournament.
Now in its EIGHTH year, the RGL Tournament is an annual competition among wrestlers with 3 compete years or less of pro experience with the torunament finals taking place at Battlecade. The tournament winner is recognized as the best of the rising generation and crowned RGL Champion, which often means priority bookings from the CWF office ahead of the other rookies, among other perks. This year's tournament kicked off at Projekt X Episode 10 with quarter-final action:
Roo-D Lewis defeated Donovan "Vice" Murphy w/ Felicity by pinfall to advance to the semi-final round of the 2009 Rising Generation League Tournament (10:30)
Showtyme's Trevor Lee w/ Justin Duke & Kristin Flake defeated Chase Dakota by pinfall to advance to the semi-final round of the 2009 Rising Generation League Tournament (11:11)
Reigning RGL Champion Matt Smith and last year's tournament champion Chiva Kid were awarded byes into the semi-finals.
That leaves us with the high-flying Chiva Kid, the egotistical Trevor Lee, defending champion Matt Smith and fun-loving Roo-D Lewis as the four semi-finalists who will compete on Friday December 18th with the winners moving to Saturday night's Battlecade X card in the tournament finals.
Smith however remains questionable for tournament action after emergency surgery forced him to miss the Road to Battlecade event on December 5th. His ability to fulfill his commitment as champion and compete in the tournament is currently unknown but if an official decision is made regarding his status, we WILL update our fans as soon as we know anything decisive.
2009 has seen many unpredictable, wild bouts but the action that the wild and crazy goats from Mexico Las Chivas bring to the table is tough to top. Las Chivas return from Mexico for the final Projekt X of the year to challenge Los Mercenarios Canadianese for the Pro Wrestling International Trios Championship!
Friday night will also see the Projekt X debut of DESTINY! Ty Dillinger and Mid-Atlantic Television Champion Joey Silvia are coming into town a day early in preparation for their huge grudge matches at Battlecade X and promise to cause a scene this Friday night in their first ever appearance at Projekt X.
PLUS more big matches featuring the stars of Projekt X such as Fatback's young gun "Jersey" NICK RICHARDS; the violent RAY KANDRACK; sinister CECIL SCOTT; the exciting CHASE DAKOTA; rookie sensation ARIK ROYAL and more! And remember your ticket stub from Projekt X gets you $4 off admission into Saturday night's Battlecade X, the biggest card in CWF history!
