CWF Mid-Atlantic kicks off 2011 this Saturday night with New Year's Knockout 2011, live from the Mid-Atlantic Sportatorium at 1813 Frank Holt Drive in Burlington, NC with a 7:30 PM bell time. Tickets for this huge card can be reserved right now with the "GET TICKETS" button at CWF247.COM. Don't miss 2011's first spectacular CWF Mid-Atlantic live event!
In the first main event of 2011, brand new Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Champion LEE VALIANT defends against CWF's own BRAD ATTITUDE. Originally trained at the CWF dojo, Attitude has since traveled the country competing for top wrestling promotions like Dragon Gate USA, Full Impact Pro, Florida Championship Wrestling and even World Wrestling Entertainment. As a former WWE contracted wrestler, Florida Heritage Champion, former Mid-Atlantic Tag-Team Champion and the winner of the 2004 CWF Rumble, Attitude's track record speaks for himself, but one title he has never held is the Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Title. Perhaps nobody knows better than Lee Valiant what type of struggle it takes to win the championship. After having it stolen away from him by Ric Converse and the Aftermath it took Valiant two long months to finally get a championship rematch at Battlecade Eleven. With Tommy Young filling in as a last-minute substitute referee, Valiant regained the championship from Converse. T hese are two of the most exciting, athletic, fundamentally sound wrestlers to ever step foot in CWF Mid-Atlantic but only one can live this superb main event as champion!
Former champion RIC CONVERSE has not gone quietly into the night, however. The decision at Battlecade has been protested by Converse and Aftermath frontman William Cross for three weeks now. They cite that since Tommy Young was not the referee originally assigned the title match that Valiant's win should never have been counted and that Converse never lost the championship. Both Converse and Cross have vowed to be in attendance this Saturday night at New Year's Knockout to publicly voice their grievance.
Valiant's Heavyweight crown is not the only championship that will be defended Saturday night, as Coach Gemini's All-Star team of TY DILLINGER and RAY KANDRACK will defend their Mid-Atlantic Tag-Team Championship against Virginia's VA Bombers ADAM PAGE and JASON BLADE. The Bombers upset Dillinger and fill-in partner Roy Wilkins on December 4th while Kandrack was on injured reserve and were originally given the titles until Coach Gemini challenged the official's ruling in awarding them the titles since Wilkins was pinned. The victory stood but not the title change as the belts were given back to the All-Stars on a technicality. The resilient Bombers came right back two weeks later to win the 2nd annual Battlcade tag-team battle royal and earn themselves another shot at the titles. But they have their work cut out out for them, as Kandrack is on the roll of a lifetime after becoming only the 3rd man in CWF history to become a double champion with his Television Title win at Bat tlecade. These two teams with undoubtedly go to war with both looking to take home the gold at New Year's Knockout!
Rumors are circulating about the future of one of Burlington's most popular franchises, Fatback Enterprises. Social networking sites have been abuzz with talk of contract negotiations, secretive trips and injuries to the group. The injuries that have caught up to the group cannot be denied. Matty de Nero was forced to miss Battlecade after an attack from Justin Duke, Donnie Dollar$ has just returned from a severe neck injury at the hands of the All-Stars and it was only months ago that Corey Edsel's career was thought to be over due to a severe back injury. With so many questions looming about the future of the group, Fatback frontman Brad Stutts offered the following cryptic comments concerning New Year's Knockout:
"I can tell you this much for sure -- we are all going to be in Burlington on Saturday. Corey, Matty, Donnie and Nick will all be wrestling and with the way things are looking right now, there is a good possibility that it may be the last time we are all in the same ring at the same time together," Stutts remarked. "We're going to have what may be our last match together and then we're gonna answer the rumors in the ring in front of everybody. I hope the fans in Burlington who have supported us over the years will all be there with us on this special night."
Plus appearing live and in action JOEY SILVIA, RGL Champion JASON MILLER, The All-Stars' ROY WILKINS and WALTER EATON, referee-turned-wrestler JOSEPH BLACKWAIL, TREVOR LEE, MECHA MERCENARY, CHASE DAKOTA, CECIL SCOTT, MICHAEL McALLISTER, "The One Man Boy Band" ROO D. LEWIS, "The New Era" JIMMY PARKER and more!
In late-breaking news, "High Definition" STEVE GREENE has also announced that HE will be in Burlington this Saturday and he has indicated that he will name the date and opponent for his retirement match when he addresses the crowd this Saturday night. With all this happening it promises to be a very emotional night for long-time fans, with some stars returning and some departing. 2011 seemed poised to be a year of change in CWF Mid-Atlantic, don't miss the very first event of the new year THIS Saturday night!
