I just got the fretless '62 Jazz copy by SXa few weeks ago. I played a few of their basses and they really are no worse than a MIM Fender. I put several coats of epoxy on the neck and am swapping out the stock pickups for DiMarzio 123's. Will probably add on a Badass II bridge. (I also got a little carried away and did my own "relic-ing" to make it really look like Jaco's) As it was, it played well. Now, it's way better than my MIM Jazz bass was stock. Of course, THAT bass I had sent to H. G. Thor to epoxy and set-up. Wow. He does great work. The SX might even gove the $3000 Jaco Fender a run for it's money, with less than $400 invested when all is said and done.
