Well I don't think they are quite as bad blowbass would have you believe but I do agree with his advice, which is to try to find a real fender or maybe a MIJ for around $500 or less. I bought a SX fretless jazz just to try out fretless and for the price they are amazing but the neck is wider than the standard jazz and so the feel is not quite right. It's now sitting in my closet while I am playing the MIJ 62 Jazz RI that took it's place.
