I like the clean sound and the bass boost of active electronics especially when playing 90% on the bridge pickup. But, recently, have been returning to a passive sound. I sold a vintage Fender '62 Jazz bass (reissue) to buy a Sadowsky and am missing that passive sound. So, now I mostly play the Sadowsky without the active electronics. I have a fretless '66 PBass that has (active) EMGs but passive EQ and a CIJ fretless '62 Fender Jazz bass that's stock (passive). Either way I can a sound I like.
