Tapewound or flatwound will save your frets from further damage. You may be able to get the frets "dressed" which might save you some money and even out the frets. I prefer Thomastic-Infield Jazz flats. All the James Jamerson/Motown stuff was done on a PBass with flats.
: Been away from bass for long time. (studying
: viola for music degree)I have a custom made
: Sting Ray w/rosewood and Fender nylon tape
: wounds, also a Fender P w/maple, currently

: "popping" and side to side
: vibrato. (he was primarily a fretted
: player)1st, happy with tapewound on Stingray
: w/rosewood, how will they act on a Pbass
: w/maple? 2nd, what recommendations for
: damage from roundwounds on Pbass? 3rd,
: should I go with tapes on the P or flats?
: BTW, 1st time on the site, looks great, it's
