Amps - Valve or simulated valve?

Wanted to find out what most fretless players are in favour of; A true all valve amp(for the tone)or solid state with Virtual amp simulation(and its lighter).Would be nice to hear what everyone's using. Thought I'd ask as I'm considering a change in amps and haven't heard of the ultimate fretless amp (apart from ampeg?).
