hey yea jaco used only his back pickup for most songs.. and he also played off the back pickup which gives u a bright tone on your amp boost the mids and that will help the growl come out and try playing soft notes u will notice they will come out louder and "swell" like jaco's did.. also learn a few of his songs i recommend barbary coast its quite easy but gives u a good feel for his groove
