Any thoughts on the control setup?

Hey Stringfellow (or others),
Any comments on the controls? From what I can tell, the bass has the following switches and knobs:
Active EQ on/off switch
Three way pickup selector
Single tone pot
Neck pup (P style) volume pot
Bridge pup (J style) volume pot.
Seems redundant with both a pup selector and separate pup volumes. Was there a reason for this? I can think of a couple, but I'd be interested in what you guys have to say.
