one. protocol used to access server, in this case, hypertext transfer protocol. another example of protocol is FTP for file transfer protocol.
two. the location of the files you want to see. in this case, the world wide web, but it could also be the name of a machine on an internal network.
three. the host name of the domain. often, both the microsoft and the .com are together called the domain. in the case of this question, microsoft is the host name.
four. the domain type and top-level domain. if the website were to be microsoft.org, then the host name is microsoft and the top-level domain is .org.
