i don't think dave courtney ever was a gangster. He might have been hard and well-known around his own areas but he never made any mark anywhere else on a large scale. A bouncer, no more than that, and the real gangsters use bouncers as dogsbodies. You never see a real gangster standing on the door of a nightclub.
