Posted by Daniel on 9/29/2006, 8:12 am This is a show of original photographs and digital collage art pieces based on album designs from the past five years. It runs from October 1 to November 1, 2006 at the Starbucks located at Queen West and Claremont (2 lights west of Bathurst). The artist/photographer's name is Michael Wrycraft. Using the name "A Man Called Wrycraft" Michael is one of the leading album package / music designers in Canada. He is the proud holder of 1 Juno award and 5 Juno nominations as well as 2 nominations and 1 American Independent Music Award all for album design Of particular note he has designed the last five Bruce Cockburn albums (Breakfast In New Orleans..., Anything Anytime Anywhere, You've Never Seen Everything, Speechless and Life Short Call Now) as well as all of the Blackie & the Rodeo Kings albums and posters to date. The show is a series of 25 numbered Limited Edition archival prints of original photos and photo illustrations/collages taken from albums by artists including Bruce Cockburn, Martyn Joseph, Garnet Rogers, Oliver Schroer, Blackie & the Rodeo Kings and many, many more. Taken out of the context of the original album designs these are compelling art pieces with a hint of musical flavour. These are on view during regular Starbucks hours and are for sale at a very reasonable price. Michael can be found at the show on Saturday, October 1, answering questions, talking about the pieces and generally fishing for compliments. Drop by Saturday or over the next month and check out this visually compelling show and take home some Bruce, Blackie or many others in fine art form.
