I saw Bruce Cockburn play last night, 03/24/07, at the Chandler Music Hall in Randolph, Vermont. It was certainly one of the best solo performances by Bruce that I have seen in a long time. He played a number of older songs including “Peggy’s Kitchen Wall” He introduced the song by saying that one of the “principle characters in the song” had died a few weeks ago and that he had started singing the song again, after not singing it for a number of years, as a tribute to the memory of the person. He was clearly moved when performing it. Asked the audience to sing along. Very emotional.
