At GHS we advise students in the play that they cannot use their cell phones after we call places for Act I. I went into the makeup room during Act I and found a rather self-centered cast member speaking on her phone. I loudly said, "turn it off, NOW." She said, "I will in a second." I took it from her hand and closed it, hanging up on the call. She exclaimed, "that's my mother!" I said, "good, if she calls back I'll tell her you don't know how to obey rules." Thirty seconds later her mother called back. I did as promised, adding that I would give her the phone back after the play but she wasn't to bring it in from the car henceforth, and if she did she'd be out of the show. The mother was aghast. I didn't care.
