At Sangamon Auditorium, ushers will tell patrons to turn off phones or games if we can see them texting or talking. I've even walked into a row to tell a child to turn off a game. During a recent high school chorus and band concert, I asked a man to turn his phone off, and he remarked, "We're letting grandmother hear the program." If we can't get to someone in the middle of a row, we catch them at intermission.
