Just a reminder to call the Hoogland and sign up for the Lighting Workshop that Jeff Nevins will be leading this Sunday from 1-4pm. Here are the details:
The Hoogland Center for the Arts and Over the Moon Productions is beginning a series of educational workshops geared to developing and improving skills in theatre arts. The two organizations anticipate providing workshops in lighting, sound, set, costume, makeup design and in directing.
To initiate this series, they are pleased to offer a Lighting Design Workshop taught by Jeff Nevins of American Customs Lighting. This three-hour workshop is without cost but does require pre-registration. The workshop will be held in the LRS Theatre at the Hoogland Center for the Arts on Sunday, June 14 from 1:00-4:00 p.m.
The Lighting Design Workshop is a very broad overview of lighting design. The information presented will be useful to lighting designers, techs, directors and actors. The workshop will include the following topics:
* introduction to lighting fixtures and how they are used
* overview of the different angles of lighting (front, back, side, low angle, high angle, etc.)
* introduction to the McCandless system of lighting design
* creating looks and moods (includes using color, gobos & layers)
* lighting designer priorities (first the reality of the scene, then the mood, but always the story)
* lighting as a character in the show.
For more information, and to pre-register for the workshop, please call the Hoogland Center for the Arts Customer Service Center at 523-2787.
