Well the south side of Chicago
Is the baddest part of town
And if you go down there
You better just beware
Of a man named Leroy Brown.
Paul,
Here is Clarence and Zane's story:
On the south side of Chicago, 2 little boys became best friends. From the time they were about three years old until they were ten, they were inseparable, doing all of the things that little boys do. They played in Washington Park, rode the "El" for entertainment, and went to each other's birthday parties. Also, as with childhood friends, once one moved away, they lost track of each other. Clarence and Zane did not realize that they were within blocks of each other in high school; Clarence at DeLaSalle and Zane at St. Elizabeth.
One day, while reminising, Clarence asked me to "Google" his friend, Zane Maddox and within minutes, I had located Zane's nephew. After a few phone calls, the two childhood buddies reconnected. Since then, pictures have been swapped and friendships rekindled.
Clarence Johnson and Zane Maddox will meet again at the Black Boater's Summit 2009 for the first time in more than 60 years!
Michele Posey...
NOTE
Both Cap'n Paul and Captain Bill Pinkney are both from the south side of Chicago.
