Last week I had a wonderful experience of sailing in the British Virgin Islands with the beautiful folks of the Black Boaters Summit...this was my second trip and it will be an annual thing for me from now on...I LOVED IT THAT MUCH....the people, the islands, the pristine crystal blue water and the fun are unmatched by any other vacation I have ever been on....and I didn't know anyone on this trip last year and I didn't know anyone on the boat I sailed on this year....It's a great experience to meet people you consider strangers at the beginning of a trip...and by the end they seem like family...
Every year around the first week in August, African Americans converge, from across the country, on the British Virgin islands to sail together on a variety of yachts...This year, I was 1st mate (2nd in command to the Capt) on a brand new 50ft catamaran...this is the top of the line yacht...it sleeps 10, with 5 cabins, 5 heads (bathrooms) and air conditioning!!! It was a pure joy sailing with these folks who I now consider friends...
I hope next year you will take this awesome journey of discovery with me...or at the minimum discover the joy of sailing...in the meantime, please take a minute to check out the video one of the crew of my boat put together
