My implant was saline. But it did not withstand having radiation through it, over it, under it or whatever when I had a recurrance. Since I had the implant removed, I have had a prophylactic mastectomy on the other side. It helped tremendously with the lymphedema achiness. That side seemed to pull on the other side. I know that sounds weird, and I thought so too for over a year, but the breast surgeon was in complete agreement. I knew that this surgeon did not readily do prophylactic mastectomies so I felt in good hands and am not one bit sorry!!! Perhaps the equipment is known for breaking up fibrotics, but it was just too much pain for me. Otherwise I would have kept it.
Good luck!
