Hello experienced ladies!
I would love your advice. I am to start radiation soon, after bilateral lumpectomies then axilla node removal. I had 1 positive node out of 15 on one side, and 5/18 positive nodes on the other.
Lymphedema is my fear and my question is: do I have radiation on my lymph nodes? My radiologist detects a bit of swelling (and I do have soreness with activity) in the 5 node side, and since only 1 was positive on the other, he is hesitant to do that side, too.
He wants me to make the decision. When I had the axilla surgery after the sentinal node biopsies, ALL the nodes came out clean.
At first I thought I would go ahead and do it all, but now the fear of battling lymphedema vs cancer is weighing heavily on my mind.
Does an one have an opinion they will share? Is there any information that I am missing?
Thank you so much for any help you can provide.
Vicki
