Hi--desperate for answers. As posted on main board a while back, I don't have lymphedema (yet), but am at extremely high risk and once I do, I have even more difficulties with treatment options. Because I am allergic to topical antibiotics, bugs sprays, and hand lotions, there is considerable concern of infections. Affected arm is dominant hand, so I also use it quite a lot and regularly got hangnails that got infected, prior to the surgery, etc. Now, I'm I think two weeks post seeing the OT and getting my first taste of accurate information and I already have an infection on the cuticle of my first finger. The OT wants me to get finger gloves, also known as finger cots or finger condoms to protect just the tips of the fingers while doing everyday tasks like cooking/baking, cleaning, gardening, eating, dishes, etc. My problem is that I'm unable to find any that are small enough. I have it covered length-wise, but the widths don't come narrow enough so I am going to end up with "stuff" catching between the finger and the glove. What do kids with lymphoma do? I can't seem to find any information. Meanwhile, I'm trying to get on with my life and now have an infection, which I do not have any idea how I can treat and neither do the medical folks around me. Help please!
