Hi, Sheryl,
Unfortunately, that two-month time frame is not uncommon for trying to get this situation straightened out. Once it took me nearly a year. It pays to persist and really get what you need, but it takes a lot of trial and error -- mostly error!
Like you, I need lighter compression than others due to my size and the way my vascular structure handles compression (it doesn't!) I'm not sure which company you ordered from, but I've also found that the fabric makes a difference. Bio-Concepts has a fabric called "Soft" that they use for neonates that works well for me. It comes in a wide range of colors. It offers a gentler compression, and the inside is silky-soft. t is not very durable, though, so I keep a bottle of Fray-Chek handy to stop runs.

I just got new garments from Gottfried that are made with their softest fabric, and my fitter (who knows me well!) measured me very loosely to assure that they wouldn't be too tight for me. I love them! They too come in a range of colors.

If your fitter (or therapist) orders garments with a zipper you may find them easier to put on. I believe both Bio-Concepts and Gottfried will do zippers. The zipper placket is completely lined to prevent skin injury. I've never needed them, but I know people who do and have no particular problems with them.
An Easy-Slide or Slip-Eze arm sleeve donning devise could be easily altered by a seamstress to work for you. A single seam is all it would take. Or some women use a one-size-fits-all plastic grocery bag! Lots of options, so don't give up hope.
Hang in there, Sheryl! It'll be good!
Cassie
