I posted on the survivors board before i saw this new one (I havent been here much in the last 5 yrs, i'm 6 out)
My wrist starting hurting about the time i left work and got worse as i did errands on the way home... worse enough i was trying not to use it. Got home and put on the compression garments because my arm was a little pink and the pain was worse. It moved into my elbow and felt rather like i was being stepped on by something large. We watched a movie and it was hurting enough i was making faces and gritting my teeth, trying not to let DH know because it seemed like just a regular lympedema flareup even though i hadn't done anything to piss it off. And they always look awful but don't usually hurt much. Took the compression stuff off to look at it was looking like it usually does after a day or two. Red, puffy and hot to the touch.. but OMG did it *hurt* It's always uncomfortable and burns a little but this time it really frickin hurt. I burst into tears and DH loaded me into the car for the ER. It hurt enough it was hard to keep talking to the triage nurse. The ER Dr looked me over, took my pulse several places, had me elevate the arm and then gave me Tylenol and Aspirin and ordered blood tests. Due to some mix up in the lab they never came to draw blood but came in an hour later with my "results" so after a lot of frantic calls to the lab they came and took blood... by then most of the pain was gone. Dr apologized all over the place, the blood tests were supposed to see if I had micro-clots and i doubt if they'd still been able to tell two hours after taking aspirin since it helped. But my whites were high enough they gave me antibiotics and declared it celluitis. It's behaving much more like it does usually when it happens, the parts that were bad Sunday are going down and the newer parts that flared afterwards are doing what the usually do. The pain is normal for this kind of flareup and the horrible pain hasnt come back. I've got a bit of a rash that may or may not be from the antibiotics but it's the kind of rash i get when my body's trying to clear a virus or something so i'm not too worried about it.
