Hi, Hattie,
The specialists who deal with lymphedema are not usually doctors, but physical or occupational therapists who have had special training in lymphedema (at least 135 hours in specific lymphedema training). Here's a website with listings of fully-trained therapists. Follow ALL the links to find those near you. There are lots of very good ones in the Atlanta area.
It's not unusual for our doctors not to know much about it, so here are two sites you can share with your doctor and also use for your own information:
