I was following this car about 2 years ago . Back then it was still in the Dallas area. This car might very well be a L72 M22 SS convertible. The owner back then claimed that the owner before him stated that the car previously had a "rockcrusher" 4 spd, which they were tired of ( too noisy) so it was removed and the car was in the process of being turned into an AT car. The conversion ran into some snags, one being the replacement AT console wouldn't fit over the 4 spd hump, and there were other conversion issues. Thats when the car was parked.
The pictures clearly showed the 4 spd lower consol boot still intact and in place.
I did not want to arouse too much interest , but did ask for the engine stamp pad info.Around the same time there was some visitors that had a look at the car , and cut open the buckets (the damage discovered later) , and may have found the build sheet.
That's when communication came to a halt. I just assumed the car was then sold. It does appear now that some further work has been done , because when I was looking at pictures 2 years ago, it it did not have any engine bay paint work started.
M22's were only mated with L72 engines( no other 427's) in 69 , but you could have an L72 with an AT or M21.
If this car did in fact have an M22 , it might be an extremely rare L72 convertible, only if the right info found turns out to be correct
