Hi Terry,
I have had a similar problem with my 427 Caprice Automatic car for years. Not sure what else to try other than bigger battery. Had up to 650 CCA in it. Mine "occasionally" does not want to start when HOT (over 200ish). I might try to get the 900CA battery when this one calves.
It also usually starts when boosted (especially 24 V tow truck booster).
