Yes, you ole' dog, I did get a NOS ashtray. Not long after you and I talked about the one I missed.
That's still one of my favorite stories. I get a laugh every time I think about it.
For those that don't know this story, Jeff here and myself somehow made a connection as he was looking for an oil pan for his car. I had been bidding on a NOS ashtray on ebay for my car. Well, somebody out bid me, and I was so close!
During our negotiations and conversation I identified myself with my user ID, Jeff said "Oh yeah, I've seen you out there". I asked him what his ID was was and guess what...... It was he that had triumphed over my best effort to acquire a NOS ashtray! I said, "You dog you...you got my ashtray!"
I was humbled in the presence of a seasoned ebayer.
All worked out in the end, Jeff got his oil pan and I spent the money to nab an ashtray from some other unsuspecting novice.
It's still funny to me how small the loop becomes with these old Impalas. Lot's of good, like minded people around.
That's a good thing.
