I just read a post on the Yenko website where a pretty reputable guy who has a lot of high quality collector cars says he used to own a 69 Impala SS427 (390 hp) with a 3 speed manual column shifted. He says it was documented on the build sheet, and the car was equipped with a console which had a factory shifter block-off plate. He sold the car in 1990. I think this subject has been debated here before, but don't remember if anyone has been able to verify the existence of cars so equipped. This is probably the most credible 'proof' I have ever heard of on the subject.
