Got a good one for y'all ....
1980's something Jeep, 6cyl, carburator, auto-trans & a/c. Came in with complaint of overheating - running ±210°F going down the road. Found the thermo-mechanical clutch on the fan inop, got looser the hotter it got, replaced it with a new one. Replaced t-stat, flushed block, rad is clean as a new one. Got some dirt out of the exterior fins but not enough to matter. Replaced top rad hose for leak, put spring in lower hose as it kinks making the bend between rad & block, thought it may have been collapsing under suction.
New T-stat is a 170°F and at idle coolant temp holds at 175°F at the rad cap. Running down the road the SOB still runs up to 210°F WTF????
