With a good coolant mixture, and a reliable pressure cap, the boiling point of the coolant is about 255° to 270°!
Are you sure it's "overheating"? or are you just uneasy with the temp? Is the gauge accurate?
What is the ambient temperature, and humidity? These can affect the systems ability to move heat.
Does the Jeep have a catalytic converter? Sometimes, as a converter is failing, and plugging up, they can cause the engine to generate a lot of heat due to back-pressure in the exhaust system.
Serpintine belt? Is the belt routed around the water pump correctly? (some vehicles have aeveral versions) Is the water pump RH or LH rotation? Is it the correct one per the dealer and/or a relible auto parts company. (remember GM v6's from the same era)
Is the radiator over-pressurizing? It is possible to have a combustion leak into the coolant without any other symptoms....Use an exhaust gas analyzer to "sniff" the radiator coolant when the engine is running.
