Gents:
Slightly off topic, but I am looking for a 'hood' latch to use on the removable top panels of the Mobile Monitor. We have used quarter turn dzus type fasteners on the prototype, but they are really unsatisfactory for this use. They are difficult to align, don't provide enough spring load, are too fragile for an emergency response vehicle, don't 'show' when the are actually latched, and are far from being "chief proof," that being a prime requirement for the system.
The old fashioned spring loaded Jeep hood latches come to mind, and I have found a couple of sources, but also wonder if there is something better. Among the requirements are 'spring' loaded, all parts permanently attached to the vehicle, positive engagement, easily operate with gloved hands, obvious visual indication when not engaged, and of course chief proof! Non-rusting stainless steel construction is preferred.
Any suggestions appreciated!
