Dug out the table saw the other day to cut a piece for a small project around the house. Ran for a few minutes before it let the smoke out of the motor and quit. I`ve had it about 4 or 5 years, so it`s not brand new.
Happened to be at Lowe`s Sunday morning and checked $$ on new saws. Skil is on sale for $107.00, not bad price.
Looked up the cost of a new motor for the saw I have. $128.00 plus shipping and handling. If I remember correct, I didn`t even pay $100.00 for it new.
Seems every table saw made now is plastic base with Aluminum top unless you want to spend a LOT of $$$$$$, and I don`t. This will be a good addition to the dumpster next week.
One of the guys at work said he had the same thing with a cordless tool. The battery was more than the thing was worth.
Stupid, but it seems more and more we are ending up with throw away tools that aren`t worth fixing.
