Hi Tech. I was hoping you would post a response. I always enjoy your take on communication questions. I remembered you used to do a lot of radio repair work and had answered some questions for me about PBX systems before.
I agree with you about the telco shenanigans. Cell providers too. If you look at the fine print on your bill, a LOT of the stuff that looks like regulatory fees, taxes, and whatnot are actually TELCO fees made to look like they are someone else's fault. Though I hate adding another layer of gov. bureaucracy, I wish the FCC/ICC would make all the telco/satellite/cable companies print their bills in multiple colors. Say, black ink for actual telco fees, red for federal taxes, blue for state taxes, and green for state and local stuff. I bet you a whole lot more of those fees would actually be "included" in the base package fee pronto. Of course the base price would increase but you would at least know what in tarnation you were actually being charged by the providers.
