This reverence is special. It happens every year or every minute. There is a bond between the old gent I shook hands with and the youngest who may or may not have served. Our common bond is the respect for our Fallen Patriots. I don't know how much national coverage was given even a contingent of this memorial. The Rolling Thunder. I was in position to see it from one vein of entry to the Wall destination. Super impressive. Hundreds of bikers equipped with gear to fend off the storms(which often happen). Made me so proud and also that Police hs escort. Hundreds at one time, Thousands over hours and this was only from one area of the west. i know it's not just about 'Nam but among these thunderers in these numbers awakens anyone to the importance of the day.
Also wonderful supporters positioned 60 40 20 5 miles(est) from the city on overpasses with the American flag and POW/MIA banners. Bless them all. Do you know what that means over a long ride to see some welcome? Super people. awesome machines. Also the stragglers. The twos and threes who had to work or work on their ride but were dang determined to get there anyway. We got some People who will save us because they remember People Who did it before. And JG is right that not everyone planted, plowed and harvested and transported and engineered in the heat. They all worked together. They share the pride and Loss. Those fr***n letters and shatter-FOR US. !
