Jeff --
Martin Tool is the successor to the former Fairmount Tool of Cleveland. Just as did Fairmount, Martin makes some of their tools but buys many others. The quality of the purchased tools hasn't ever been bad (that I know of . . . ), but it generally varies with the actual maker's quality level.
Fairmount tools were generally both fitted-and-finished and priced a notch below Armstrong and Williams, so maybe you could call Fairmount a second-tier maker of industrial mechanics' tools.
The ONLY Fairmount tools I've ever seen offered for retail sale were the autobody tools, but the same auto parts stores stocking Fairmount autobody tools stocked either Bonney or TRW (badge-engineered Williams, but Williams was, after all, a division of TRW back then) wrenches.
