One of the other board members that has endured my photos for a while suggested that i post these.
There is a local artist group that uses cast iron to make art and they had a public demonstration of the craft at night. Made for a few cool shots,

I live less than a hours drive from Cape Canaveral so i can easily see rocket launches from the back yard. The last night launch i wound up with passes to get on base, so i was really close. My little brother was talking with someone while we were there and he was invited to go the causeway which is where you see all of the news coverage from. The launch was just after sunset and the shuttle and the contrail climbed into the sunshine which made for some cool lighting effects. The first few pictures are my little brothers and the rest are mine of the launch and the rocket garden.

The launches at night allow you to see the shuttle much further down range, it is possible to see it for over 6 minutes. At 6 minutes into the flight the shuttle is traveling at 11,000 mph, is at an altitude of 66 miles, and is down range 500 miles.
The last group of pictures are of Atlantis and Endeavor sitting on the launch pads before the last trip to the Hubble space telescope. The launch pads are located in the middle of a wildlife preserve on the coast so there are a few pictures of some of the wildlife, my little brother, and the space shuttles.

Hey Mark what kind of bird is this? Since you are such an avid outdoors man you should be able to identify this one for the rest of us.
