Cash for Clunkers – American politicians destroying America!
I'm sure you've all heard about the "Cash for Clunker's" (CfC) but perhaps this program should be called what it is, "American Cash for China & India". A CfC qualifying vehicle purchase can be subsidized with up to $4,500 in American taxpayer money. Politicians allege that we're "helping the economy and the environment" but reality proves this is nothing more than political lies and deception!
All CfC vehicles must be destroyed for scrap yet the majority of that scrap is exported to China and India. Perfectly good parts that can be salvaged and sold as "used" to people who can't afford to purchase a new vehicle are being destroyed per the CfC program. This destruction mandate will force American consumers to purchase "new" replacement parts made in China and India from the perfectly good parts that politicians ordered destroyed for scrap.
"Made in America"? Not quite! Vehicles listed as being "Made in America" contain 20-65% foreign-made parts; the foreign-made percentages increase considerably when the NAFTA origin exclusions are removed. One must ask why politicians are citing “economic, energy and environmental” reasons to support the CfC program when massive amounts of energy are being wasted destroying good parts? How does shipping the scrap halfway around the world so that more energy can be wasted making the same parts that were just destroyed? How is energy or the environment saved shipping the foreign-made new parts halfway around the world again for Americans to purchase? How is the American economy benefiting when the majority of the American money spent on the new parts again goes back to foreign manufactures? Why are American politicians working so hard to destroy America?
